Accident at private strip near Moonstone

Summary

1997-04-02: Initial information from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A97O0046): The unlicenced pilot of the Quad City Challenger II ultralight aircraft (C-IEXK) was returning from a local pleasure flight to land at his private air strip. The winds were from the west-northwest and the runway was oriented north/south. During the level-off, at an altitude of approximately two feet above ground level, a gust of wind lifted the left wing. The right wheel ski dug into the snow and snapped off. The aircraft continued to slide and came to a stop after striking a fence. The pilot exited the aircraft uninjured. The aircraft was substantially damaged.
