Incident at Stony Rapids, SK

1997-12-29: C-FITO took off from Runway 24 for a northbound VFR flight at 1921Z and a minute later, as the a/c was climbing, the pilot reported that a door on the a/c had come open. He stated that he would be returning to the runway immediately, and requested that the pilot of C-GUNP, a Piper Navajo of Athabasca Airways which was on final, to overshoot so he could land. The pilot of C-GUNP complied with the request, and C-FITO landed on Runway 06 at 1924Z. The pilot of C-GUNP landed without further incident at 1929Z. The pilot of C-FITO later advised that the door in question was a cowling door. OPI - System Safety
