Incident at Saskatoon, SK


1997-12-10: WEW 1021 was on approach into Yorkton with 2 people on board, when the pilot advised that there was an unsafe indication on the left main gear. The pilot decided to return to Regina, however when the pilot received the Regina weather (200 foot overcast, 1.5 miles visibility), he then elected to divert to Saskatoon. WEW landed safely at Saskatoon at 1427Z with CFR on standby. ACA 103 was delayed for about 5 minutes on the ground as a result of the incident. Maintenance later reported that there was a broken wire on the left main gear. The wire has been replaced and the a/c put back into service. OPI - System Safety UPDATE Maintenance reports that it was the right main gear that was problematic, not the left. They discovered a broken wire on the down and lock switch. They repaired the wire, swung the gear, and put the a/c back into service.
