Incident at 80 NM SE of Winnipeg, MB

Summary

1997-11-19: CDN 976 was enroute from Calgary to Toronto and at FL 370 about 80 miles southeast of Winnipeg when the crew advised ATC that they would have to divert to Winnipeg because of a medical problem on board. It was reported that a passenger had experienced a psychological problem and had become hysterical to the point of being difficult for the cabin crew to control. The Captain requested priority handling and to have security meet the a/c. CDN 976 landed on Runway 31 at 1000Z and the passenger was forcibly removed from the a/c at the terminal.
