Incident at 32 NM SE of Calgary, AB (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)

1997-11-19: The pilot of C-GXDO was on a VFR flight from High River to Olds and was proceeding northbound. At about 32 miles southeast of Calgary when C-GXDO was at 6500 feet, the pilot had to take evasive action to avoid another a/c that was going to the southeast. C-GXDO was radar identified by the VTA controller, but the conflicting traffic, which was not identified, was not passed to the pilot of C-GXDO. An internal NavCanada investigation is ongoing to determine why the problem arose. OPI - System Safety
