Incident at Villeneuve, AB

Summary

1997-11-07: The pilot of C-FVJF was undergoing a Transport Canada flight test with a TC flight inspector. The flight test was to include the pilot's responses to inflight emergencies. As the helicopter lifted off from the Villeneuve airport and began forward flight, the TC inspector initiated an emergency by illuminating a caution light which required the pilot to reject the takeoff. When the pilot carried out the aborted takeoff, the tail rotor struck the ground, which caused damage to both rotor blades.
