Incident at HINTON / JASPER-HINTON AB (CEC4) (Incursion - runway - animal)

Summary

1997-10-22: C-GWCR, with 2 crew and 6 passengers, landed at the Jasper/Hinton Airport after a flight from Vancouver and on the landing roll-out, struck a deer. The deer impacted the centre of the left wing on the leading edge, causing a dent about 2 cm. deep and 20 cm. in length. Edmonton FSS staff were notified of the closing the runway until the deer could be removed. The airport operator subsequently removed the carcass and re-opened the runway. There were no injuries to the occupants of the a/c.
