Incident at Edmonton, AB

Summary

1997-10-23: On approach into Edmonton after a flight from Calgary, the crew of CDR 1184 elected to carry out a missed approach due to an unsafe gear indication. The Captain chose to do a touch and go in an attempt to get the gear to lock, and he advised ATC that the gear was in fact down and locked after this maneuver. The crew stopped the a/c on the runway and ground crew put a pin in the gear before the a/c taxied to the terminal. ERS was on standby for the a/c during the incident. UPDATE Maintenance determined that the problem was a broken assist spring.
