Incident at Grande Prairie, AB (TCAS alert)
1997-10-17: At 2331Z, CDR 1187 departed from Runway 29 at Grande Prairie for Edmonton. The crew's clearance was to make a climbing right turn and fly a heading of 060 degrees for ten minutes when heading restrictions would be cancelled. At the same time, CDR 1113 was inbound to Grande Prairie from Edmonton and was being given radar vectors for Runway 29. CDR 1113 cancelled IFR at 2332Z and changed to the local FSS frequency. At 2334Z, CDR 1187's heading restriction was cancelled and the traffic passed to the crew, who reported the traffic in sight and said the traffic was also indicated on the TCAS. Subsequently, the crew of CDR 1113 reported a TCAS Resolution Advisory to FSS.
