Incident at Calgary, AB


1997-10-17: DAL 469 was in the takeoff roll on Runway 12 for Salt Lake City, when Tower controllers and the crew of Westjet 37 saw the a/c's rear tail stairs come down. The crew of DAL 469 was instructed to abort the takeoff, and they cleared off the runway and the a/c was inspected for damage. The crew taxied the a/c back to the terminal and it was reported that the a/c did not sustain any damage. UPDATE After the crew taxied the a/c back to the terminal, it was determined that the airstairs door handle had been in the unlocked position for takeoff.
