Incident at Clyde River, NT

1997-10-06: SGK 325 was on a VFR flight from Broughton Island to Clyde River, and when the a/c landed on Runway 20T at 2104Z, the pilot had some difficulty braking and left the runway surface to the right. The runway is compacted gravel with occasional soft spots on the north end. The pilot reported that he was able to return the a/c to the runway surface and the a/c did not sustain any damage. UPDATE The company reports that the approach into Clyde was made through cloud, and the pilot believes that the gear caliper may have picked up some ice on descent. The gravel runway was also a little slippery, given the freezing temperature, and with the a/c brake sticking somewhat, the a/c slid off the side of the runway at slow speed. There was no damage or injury.
