Incident at Edmonton, AB (Conflict - loss of separation)

Summary

1997-10-02: CDR 1130 took off on Runway 02 for Grande Prairie at 1406Z and was assigned a heading of 260 degrees for traffic by the Departure controller. C-FAFT departed right behind CDR 1130 for Fort St. John, and was assigned a heading of 340 degrees. The different heading assignments resulted in a loss of IFR separation for the two a/c. A trainee controller had issued the instructions, and the mistake has been discussed with a supervisor.
