Incident at Thompson, MB


1997-10-01: The pilot of C-GAHX was preparing for a flight to a Manitoba Hydro site, and requested a Special VFR clearance to depart from the airport. Weather at the time was 12 miles visibility in light drizzle, 300 foot overcast, temperature 4 degrees, dewpoint 1 degree, barometric pressure 29.72 inches. The pilot was given the Airport Advisory, including current weather and requested to standby. The a/c subsequently departed from the north apron without Special VFR authorization and the FSS duty specialist advised the pilot that Special VFR had not been authorized. The pilot then returned and landed back at the north apron.
