Accident at Bissett, MB

Summary

1997-09-09: The pilot and passenger in C-GZYV were going on a local pleasure flight in the float-equipped Cub. As the a/c was climbing after takeoff from a lake north of Bissett, the engine stopped as the a/c passd over the shoreline. The pilot force-landed the a/c in the trees, resulting in substantial damage to the a/c, but the occupants were not injured. It was later reported that the fuel selector had not been properly set prior to takeoff, and the pilot had insufficient time to correct the problem before the forced landing.
