Incident at Vicinity of Olds, AB

1997-09-08: C-GCSD, with only the pilot on board, had just completed a parachute drop and was returning to Springbank. The controller noticed that the a/c was climbing into possible conflict with other parachute drop a/c and instructed the pilot to desend. The pilot subsequently responded that he was having propellor control problems and could not maintain altitude and requested a diversion to Calgary. C-GCSC remained high until close in to the airport, and completed a safe landing on Runway 10 at 2218Z. The pilot did not declare an emergency, but Tower staff called out ERS anyway, thinking it was a legitimate emergency.
