Incident at PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE / SOUTHPORT MB (CYPG)

Summary

1997-08-27: Mustang 306 was on a training flight with a crew of 2, and had flown to Kenora to do some circuits, and then to Gimli for more circuits. On approach into Gimli, the crew discovered that when they selected gear down, there was no response, not even an unsafe gear warning. They decided to return to the base at Southport, and because the gear would still not come down, they lowered it manually. The crew got a "three green" indication and landed without further incident on Runway 13R at 1625Z. The a/c was towed to the hangar where maintenance has it up on jacks to determine the cause of the problem.
