Incident at 16 W of Yellowknife, NWT

1997-08-19: NWA 701 had been on a scheduled flight from Iqaluit to Yellowknife and was 16 DME from destination when the crew received an engine fire indication from the number 2 engine. The crew performed an emergency shut-down and landed without further incident at Yellowknife. They did not declare an emergency and did not request ERS to be on standby. This engine had been the subject of previous reports (CADORS 97C0522 and 97C0547) and on this occasion, maintenance changed the engine's fire detection unit and the fuel control unit. There was no evidence of a fire in the engine. The a/c was put back in service and the problem has not recurred.
