Accident at Calgary, AB

1997-08-12: The pilot of C-GPIZ was completing a spray application of Decis insecticide on a field about 6 miles east of Calgary International Airport when he struck a high-power electrical line and impacted the ground. There was no fire after the accident, but the pilot was seriously injured and suffered some burning on his face. The extent of other injuries is not known at this time and he is in hospital. The area where the a/c went down is not residential and there was no property damage, but the a/c may have been destroyed. Because the accident happened near the end of the flight, there was little spillage of insecticide. TSB is investigating and will be able to provide more details when the pilot is able to discuss the accident.
