1997-07-31: The float-equipped DHC-2 Beaver is summer-based at a fishing lodge on Mosquito Lake, NWT. The a/c had been chartered by an exploration company to transport mining personnel to different locales in the Dubawnt Lake area. Upon landing on the north end of Dubawnt Lake, it appears the a/c struck a rock which damaged the left float, so the pilot ran the a/c up on the rocky shoreline to prevent the a/c from sinking. An a/c has been dispatched to the site with repair materials so C-FGMK
can be ferried out and flown south. The pilot was the only occupant of the a/c. Baker Lake FSS had reported the a/c overdue at Mosquito Lake and SAR had been notified. UPDATE Examination of the floats revealed several holes and popped rivets. The pilot was able to complete some temporary repairs and he flew the a/c to Nestor Falls, ON to have the floats overhauled.
