Incident at Thompson, AB (Conflict - potential)

Summary

1997-07-10: C-GMOM, a Cessna 414 belonging to Pimichikamac Air, was maneuvering on the ground to get to Runway 14 while Skyward 224, an Embraer 110 Bandeirante was on final for Runway 23. Both a/c as well as the FSS were communicating on the MF, however it appears that transmissions were either not heard or neglected, which resulted in the Cessna 414 taxiing into the intersection of Runways 05/23 and 14/32 as the Embraer 110 was on short final. The Embraer crew executed a go-around from about 200 feet above ground and came around and landed safely when the runway was clear. FSS staff indicate that there is a need to develop a more organized procedure for uncontrolled airports when multiple runways are in use.
