Incident at 6521N 7140W NW of Iqaluit,NWT


1997-07-03: KBA 201 was IFR enroute from Iqaluit to Igloolik at FL 270 and communicating to North Bay FSS (Baffin Radio) via an overflying Air Canada a/c. At 1845Z, the pilot relayed to FSS that he had descended to 12,000 feet and was returning to Iqaluit because of a broken window. The information was passed on to Edmonton Centre, which asked whether the descent was due to an emergency, to which the pilot responded that it was a precautionary descent. There was no conflicting traffic at the time, and clearance was issued for the a/c to fly to Iqaluit.
