Incident at Calgary, Alberta (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

1997-06-10: Other Aircraft: CDR1196 Canadian Regional DHC-8 ACA128 Air Canada B767 With AAL273 on a 6 mile final for runway 16, the controller departed CDR1196 and instructed ACA128 to taxi to position in anticipation of coordinating a turn for CDR1196. Departure denied the request for a turn for CDR1196 which required tower to delay takeoff clearance for ACA128. With AAL273 now on a 2 mile final, ACA128 was given an immediate takeoff clearance, and as ACA128 rotated at C1 intersection (about 6600 feet down the runway), AAL273 initiated a go-around. It is possible that crew of AAL273 was concerned about jet blast or vortices, and the a/c was given vectors for separation from ACA128. AAL273 returned for a normal landing at 2008Z.
