Incident at Calgary, AB

1997-06-04: CDN 906 was downwind for Runway 16 when the pilot advised he had a TCAS Resolution Alert and would have to file a report. There were no other a/c in the vicinity and it is believed that the a/c did not take any avoidance action. Possible traffic was a REGS 11 flight in the Springbank control zone which had an erroneous Mode C and was asked to turn off his Mode C. UPDATE At 11,000 feet on the approach into Calgary, the crew received a TCAS traffic advisory warning. The warning then went off (traffic out of range). The warning then came back on and indicated that the traffic was 100 feet above, and then the resolution advisory warning showed. Calgary ATC showed no other traffic in the area and this is believed to be a false TCAS warning.
