Accident at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan


1997-06-03: The pilot of C-FOCS, a DeHavilland DHC-2, crashed on runway 27 during takeoff. The aircraft burned and the injured pilot was taken to the hospital. ERS responded and distinguished the fire. A TSB Field team has deployed. Update to follow. UPDATE Field investigation found that the elevator control cables running from the elevator bellcrank assembly to the elevator torque tube lever arms were crossed, causing a reverse movement of the elevator. The reverse movement of the elevator was not detected during maintenance release or prior to flight. The investigation is ongoing.
