Incident at KUGLUKTUK NU (CYCO)

Summary

1997-09-03: The pilot of C-GBAD, a Bellanca 8GCBC, took off from the taxiway and across the runway at Kugluktuk airport rather than back tracking and using the runway. The pilot did not advise anyone that he would be departing from the taxiway and across the runway. First Air 845 was taxiing to the threshold of Runway 12, and was turning around to takeoff position when C-GBAD departed.
