Incident at THOMPSON MB (CYTH)

Summary

1997-05-23: C-GATQ was VFR from The Pas to Thompson and at 0243Z the pilot reported through an overflying a/c that he was in cloud and unable to remain VFR. Gonzo 3, a Canadian Forces Dash 8 a/c, was on a training flight 120 miles south of Thompson and provided assistance to C-GATQ with advice on headings and altitude. C-GATQ was in cloud for 1 hour and 10 minutes, and during that time there were icing conditions and the a/c's airspeed indicator quit. The a/c landed safely at Thompson at 0458Z.
