Incident at Calgary, AB

1997-05-23: CDR 1332 overshot Runway 28 due to a nose gear problem. At 1930Z the a/c landed safely on Runway 34 with ERS on standby. UPDATE The a/c did not get a down and locked indication for the gear so the alternate gear extension method was employed to get three green. There were no injuries and no damage to the a/c. Maintenance has determined that a spring on the right hand down lock actuator had failed. It was replaced and the gear was recycled several times and the a/c returned to service.
