Incident at Shilo, Manitoba

Summary

1997-05-15: The pilot of C-GPVN, a PA31, was on a VFR Flight Plan Saskatoon direct, Brandon direct, Fort Frances and was observed by the Shilo range patrol to over fly the Shilo restricted area during live firing exercises (artillery and tank fire). Personnel at Shilo stated they estimated the altitude of the aircraft at below 1000 metres and they were able to read the registration clearly. Brandon FSS was able to contact the aircraft who reported on the Brandon 130 degree radial at 30 DME. The pilot indicated he had not overflown the restricted area and had been 3 or 4 miles from the restricted area.
