Incident at Regina, SK (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

1997-05-02: Canadian Regional CDR 1319, a Dash 8, and Air Canada ACA 296, a Canadair CL-65, were inbound to Regina and were being radar-vectored for the ILS approach to Runway 13. CDR 1319 was number 2 on the approach behind ACA 296 and had been taken through the localizer to the east for spacing. When the controller attempted to turn CDR 1319 back toward the localizer, the a/c came within 2.63 miles laterally and 700 feet vertically of ACA 296, where 3 miles or 1000 feet of vertical separation was required. UPDATE The ATS unit is examining the circumstances of the occurrence.
