Incident at EDMONTON CITY CENTRE / BLATCHFORD AB (CYXD)

Summary

1997-04-04: Shortly after landing on runway 16, the aircraft veered off the runway into the infield. There was no damage to the aircraft and no injuries to the persons on board. The pilot suspects a gear malfunction. UPDATE: During the landing roll the Cessna 421 swerved to the left. The pilot was unable to change the direction of travel before the aircraft stopped about 50 feet off the runway surface. Examination by maintenance personnel found the washers on the torque link had sheared and allowed the wheel to swivel. Further examination found that incorrect washers had been installed. An SDR will be submitted.
