1997-04-02: The pilot of PAG616
, a SW4
, enroute to Ste. Theresa Point, returned to Winnipeg from a point 25 miles north with the left engine shutdown. ERS responded. PAG616
landed without further incident on runway 31 at 2205Z and was towed to the ramp. There were 13 SOB, 1200 lbs of fuel. Stand down at 2222Z. No other aircraft were inconvenienced. UPDATE: Approximately 25 miles north of Winnipeg, the crew of a Perimeter Airlines Metro II observed the left engine oil pressure and torque indication fluctuating. When the oil pressure dropped to 40 PSI, the crew shut down the engine and returned to Winnipeg. The aircraft landed safely with ERS standing by. Maintenance found that the flexible oil line from the oil cooler inlet to the oil cooler heater was kinked. The line was believed to have kinked during the installation of the lower cowling during a maintenance inspection prior to the flight. The line was replaced and the aircraft was returned to service. The company has initiated a check of their fleet to ensure proper routing of the oil line.
