Incident at Yellowknife, NWT (ATS operating irregularity)
1997-02-10: Canadian 449, a Boeing 737, was cleared for a straight-in ILS approach to runway 33. NWT Air 954, a B737, was cleared for take-off on runway 33. To ensure proper spacing between arriving and departing aircraft on this runway, the take-off clearance is valid until the arriving aircraft reaches six DME. When Canadian 449 reported by the marker, a distance of 2.5 miles from the threshold of runway 33, the Tower Controller cancelled the take-off clearance for NWT 954 and the arriving aircraft carried out a missed approach. Nav Canada will conduct a Fact Finding Board.
