Incident at High River, Alberta

Summary

1997-01-29: During a world record endurance attempt, the balloon encountered turbulence which caused a tear in the envelope and negated the possibility of the record. Therefore the crew elected to perform a controlled but rough landing in a deep snow covered field. During the landing the balloon sustained damage to the gondola and propane tanks, however, there were no injuries.
