Incident at Pond Inlet, NWT

Summary

1997-01-08: Shortly after departing Pond Inlet for Clyde River, the crew of First Air 801 advised Air Radio that they had a hydraulic problem and were diverting direct to Iqaluit. ERS was advised and were standing by, however 20 minutes prior to their arrival, the crew advised Air Radio that the hydraulic system was functioning normally. The aircraft made an uneventful landing. There was no damage to the aircraft, nor injuries to the four crew and four passengers on board. Cold weather is suspected in this occurrence.
