Summary

1997-12-31: Identification: Air Canada (ACA) 639 / Eastern Flying Service (SPR) 902 Type/Model: EA32 / SW4 Departure Point: St. John's / Deer Lake Destination: Halifax / St. John's Remarks: While taxiing to the button of runway 16 for departure , ACA 639 was unable to complete its turn-around to line up because of high winds and ice. Applying extra power caused the aircraft to slide towards the edge of the useable surface. Sand trucks were dispatched and after the area was sanded , the aircraft was able to complete the turn around. The flight departed approximately 16 minutes late. SPR 902 had to hold for about 5 minutes while ACA 639 got underway. TSB no involvement.
