Incident at Halifax


1997-09-29: USA3 B767 enroute Rome to Philadephia diverted to Halifax due to smoke in the cockpit. Aircraft declared emergency 60 nm west of Halifax. Landed safely 1831z. Maintenance determined that the smoke was coming from tan exhaust fan in the forward aviaonics bay. The fan was isolated and the aircraft was dispatched to destination under the MEL.
