Incident at 65nm w Engle


1997-07-22: Aircraft was enroute from MYNN (Nassau Bahamas) to CYHZ (Halifax). Aircraft was detected on radar 65nm west of Engle. Moncton ACC contacted New York and asked where the aircraft was headed. New York advised the aircraft was cleared to Engle. The pilot had been given the coordinates 42.07N 063.24W because he did have information on Engles. Aircraft crossed FIR boundary at 1910Z and called into Moncton ACC a few minutes later. Aircraft advised he was off course. Moncton ACC requested where he was going and the pilot replied that he was going to the coordinates given to him. Gross navigation error filed.
