Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

1997-06-09: Information relayed via Toronto ACC that an aircraft departing after CDN946 noticed rubber on the runway. Canadian dispatch advised and aircraft carried on to Halifax. At 2318z the pilot declared an emergency. CFR on standby for landing on runway 06 at Halifax. Aircraft landed without incident at 2331Z TSB case closed. Update: Maintenance found that the tread on the # 1 tire and separated during the take-off. The following areas sustained minor damage: left hand trailing edge flap and foreflap. Mid flap lower surface and leading edge skin. Main gear door trailing edge skin and support angle. Temporary field repairs were made and aircraft ferried to repair facility.
