Incident at 25 nm east Halifax VOR

Summary

1997-05-07: CGPEB C185 on floats was on a VFR flight from Porter's Lake N.S. to Tangiers Lake and return to Porter's Lake. No Flight Plan filed. At aprx 2045z Halifax TCU controllers noticed a code 7600 target 25 miles east of the Halifax VOR. The aircraft was westbound at 80 knots. The target disappeared 12 miles south of the Halifax VOR. Halifax RCC contacted the pilot at Porter's lake. The pilot advised that he had experienced some radio problems and had inadvertedly selected the 7600 code. He did not realize that he was still on code 7600 until he landed at Porter's Lake. No TSB involvement.
