Incident at St. Leonard NB

Summary

1997-04-24: ARN 836 was on a flight from Montreal to St. Leonard NB and at about 10 minutes out and descending the crew heard a loud bang and the #2 engine began shutting down automatically. The aircraft landed without further incident. Maintenance determined that the aircraft and engine were serviceable and returned the aircraft to service. The company suspects that the problem was ice accumulation leading to a compressor stall.
