Incident at Gander Oceanic (ATS operating irregularity)
1997-03-27: MTM 137 a Lear55 registered D-COOL departed Keflavik for St John's NFLD and followed his flight plan until 56N/50W. He then proceeded to CRONO direct to St. John's rather than his cleared route of SCROD to St. John's. Gander ACC established Radar contact with the flight but was unable to have radio contact for some time. Once radio contact was established, the pilot indicated a clearance different than that which Gander ACC had on file. Gander ACC is in the process of confirming the paper trail and will supply TSB with the information when available. TSB evaluating. Note: See CADOR 97A0137 for similar incident involving the same aircraft. TSB has determined that the aircraft was, indeed cleared to the SCROD intersection not the CRONO intersection. TSB case closed.
