Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ) (ATS operating irregularity)


1997-03-21: An SW3, SPR 800T, an IFR training flight was conducting an ILS approach to runway 24 at Halifax during a period of moderate to heavy IFR and VFR traffic. The aircraft was issued missed approach instructions(climb runway heading to 4000 feet) and switched to Halifax Tower. ACA 4509 an Airbus 320 registered C-FFWJ departed runway 24 at 2055Z. At 2056Z SPR800T commenced the missed approach. The two aircraft were within less than a mile laterally and less than 1000 feet vertically at the time the missed approach was commenced. The weather at the time was : 2000Z 27011KT 15SM FEW025 FEW 240 OO/M16>3006RMK CU1C10 SLP18=.
