Incident at Goose Bay Labrador (Aerodrome - power failure)

Summary

1997-03-17: The commercial power became unstable in the area of Goose Bay which affected the ATS site. The diesel power source overheated and the batteries were exhausted. A technician was able to get the diesel power source back on line by 0200Z, though not stable initially. Diesel was left on manual mode as the commercial power was still fluctuating. Several aircraft were given minor reroutes to keep them within radio coverage. Goose RATCON assisted by using a dial-up radio frequency as a relay and spoke to them using a commercial telephone line.
