Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

1997-02-12: The pilot of a Dash 8 was unable to get the landing gear down and locked indication with the normal method of landing gear extension. The aircraft overshot and the landing gear was lowered successfully using the alternate method. The aircraft landed without incident with ERS standing by the runway. Maintenance replaced the downlock sensor and the drag stay sensor. The normal gear cycle was tested and the aircraft was returned to service.
