Incident at Gander Oceanic


1997-01-21: AAL 105 was enroute from London to Kennedy and 60 nm east of 54N40W when he requested and received a clearance to Gander NFLD due to the loss of one generator. Right engine drive failure. Suspect low oil pressure. Switched to APU which also failed due to low oil pressure. No assistance required. CFR standing by. Landed at Gander at 1952Z. UPDATE: Only the APU had experienced low oil pressure. Maintenance replaced the left engine generator and control, serviced the APU and the aircraft departed a short time later.
