Incident at Williams Lake (ATM - NAVAIDS/radar)
Summary
1996-08-27: At 1707Z ABL640 departed WIlliams Lake and reported to FSS that the Williams Lake DME was not working. It had also not been working during the aircraft's earlier flights from Vancouver to Quesnel and Quesnel to WIlliams Lake. The facility is remotley monitored by Vancouver FSS and, when queried, they advised that it was indicating normal operation. Vancouver TDM advised and subsequently informed of a further report of DME unserviceability by PA31T GMDF at 2020Z. It is not clear how long the facility had been out of service. Technicians were being sent from Kamloops and NOTAM issued indicating outage until 27th at 1900Z.
