Accident at Pitt Meadows, British Columbia

Summary

1996-07-14: Aircraft departed Pitt Meadows with pilot and one passenger on board. Aircraft was on a round robin flight plan, Pitt Meadows, Sechelt, Eggmont, Pitt Meadows. The aircraft was reported missing at 0500Z July 14. A search commenced early morning July 14. The pilot of the missing aircraft called at 1655Z July 14, to say he was okay. At approx 1900Z a passing Harbour Air aircraft reported an aircraft upside down in Friel Lake (north of Sechelt). SAR dispatched a Labrador 107 with divers - they identified the downed aircraft to be FBUR. No persons found in aircraft, however lifejackets and first aid kit found on the beach. RCMP and TSB investigating.
