Accident at Pitt Meadows, British Columbia


1996-07-07: While returning from dropping parachutists over Port Moody, the pilot reported engine failure. Pilot was cleared a direct approach for runway 08R. Aircraft touched down short of the runway, approx 450 feet west of the treshold of 08R and approx 100 north of the extended centre line. Initial touchdown occurred in an area of loose bark mulch, causing aircraft nosegear to sink into the mulch. Aircraft then flipped over. The pilot was the only occupant and was not injured. Aircraft substantially damaged.
