1998-01-22: At 1656Z, 9 RIMS in various specialities of the Vancouver ACC failed due to unserviceability on LAN B. At 1722Z, a complete reload (cold start) of RDPS was initiated which caused a complete radar shutdown for 3 minutes. At 1724Z, NFDPS failed because of the cold start to RDPS. At 1741Z, ground delay restrictions were implemented for aircraft landing at VR, YJ, Calgary and Edmonton airports. Some VR airport departures were permitted to select destinations that would have no impact on the enroute sectors.
