Incident at Kamloops (Aerodrome - runway or taxiway surface condition)
Summary
1996-05-24: At 2200Z, CDR1103 was given AA for runway 08 departure to Vancouver. FLO time was 2203Z. After a short takeoff roll, the aircraft aborted and returned to the apron. Inspection of nose gear showed that the aircraft had picked up several large clumps of tar. Airport staff were in process of crack filling runway and taxiway at the time. Inspection of the area revealed that a particularily large crack had retained water in it preventing the freshly laid tar from setting. After the tar was removed, the aircraft departed without further incident. A delay of twenty minutes was experienced.
